In 2008 the St George & Sutherland Medical Research Foundation (SSMRF) launched the St.George Bank Beachside DASH. The course, starts at Dolls Point and follows the bayside path to Kyeemagh and back to the finishing line in Peter Depena Reserve.
Participants can choose from the 10km, 5km or 2km course and can run, DASH, jog or walk the distance. This event is to showcase the work of SSMRF in promoting and supporting medical research in St George & Sutherland Hospitals, to raise much needed funds and to promote a healthy active community event.
A decade later, in 2017, over 800 participants entered the DASH, 86% were from Bayside, Georges River and Sutherland Shire LGA. The event attracts runners from all age groups just under half the participants were under 20 and about 100 runners were over 50.SSMRF is all about promoting health and what better way to do so than by encouraging the community to come together in a fun activity where mums, dads, children and grandparents can all actively participate in the annual Beachside DASH.
Help SSMRF put the FUN back into fun run and join us on Sunday 8th September 2019.
